A Note From The Pastor
“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly…. as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.” (Colossians 3:15, 16b) Elsewhere in this newsletter, you will find many things that will be going on during the month of April. Some of you may look at the list and feel overwhelmed. Some of you may decide you can’t do it all, so you won’t do much. Some of you may choose to share in what you are able, and let the other things go. It can be overwhelming! Now I would like to encourage you to attend as many of the events surrounding Easter as you are able. Those times of worship and remembrance are important to our faith journey. They are also fun and exciting. And they remind us to give thanks to God. But, even if you are unable to come out for those times of worship, I encourage you to remember just what it is we celebrate at Easter. It’s not the new clothes or the Easter eggs or the flowers that make Easter. Those things are nice, and add to our celebration. But the importance of Easter is God’s great gift of life and grace. The spirit of Easter is the joy that God gives. And that spirit of Easter is something we can celebrate all year round. Paul went on from the words above as he wrote to the Colossian church: “And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” (Colossians 3:17) Pastor Nancy
