                       A Note From The Pastor
 
     “Salt is good; but if salt has lost its taste,
            how shall its saltiness be restored?
   It is fit neither for the land nor for the dunghill;
           men throw it away. He who has ears
           to hear, let him hear.”     (Luke 14:34-35)
 
Sometimes when Jesus talked to the people, he would tell a story and then explain what it meant. Sometimes the gospel writers would share the story that Jesus told and then give an explanation. But sometimes, like in the statement above, Jesus simply said, “Listen up, figure it out, and let your lives reflect it.”
 
In the next few months that is what I hope to be able to do in our worship. One of the lecturers at the Festival of Homiletics said to us that sometimes we just need to let the scriptures speak for themselves. So that’s what I hope to do. I’ll still share some thoughts and illustrations, but mostly I’ll let the scripture lessons speak for themselves.
 
I am aware that there are some folks who think that our Bible is no longer relevant. And they may say that it’s outdated. But let’s take a bit of time to simply read and hear and move into the lives God calls us to. The Bible is our
life guide as followers of Christ.
 
So that’s my challenge. I’ll try a new style of preaching and use stories from the scriptures. And you can read and let some stories soak into your souls. It’s God’s Word, after all.
