A Note From The Pastor
Homiletics == the application of general principles of rhetoric to the specific department of public preaching. It includes all forms of preaching: the sermon, homily, and catechetical instruction. In May I will be going to Atlanta, GA to listen to preaching. The schedule is pretty full for those of us who will be taking part in this Festival. Beginning Monday evening and ending Friday morning (May 16-20) there will be opportunities to hear a variety of preaching styles and some of the best preachers in the United States. A Sabbatical, as I mentioned in the January newsletter, is not only for study, but also for rest and relaxation. So, following the opportunity to attend the Festival of Homiletics, I will be traveling to see some of my family. Most of you know that I enjoy train travel, so it will not surprise you that a part of these trips to see family will be by train. That travel may not be the quickest, but it is quiet and relaxing. So, that’s month one of my Sabbatical! Some of the time may be spent here in Spencerport, but I won’t be working at the church during that time. So I may see some of you, as your friend, during those weeks. Listening to preaching and sharing in worship and hearing great music will be energizing. And traveling to see family will be relaxing. And all of that will be an opportunity to rest in God’s grace. What ways can you find to lean on God? Pastor Nancy
