A Note From The Pastor
“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” (2 Cor. 12:9b, NIV) Have you ever looked at a task that you were expected to do and said to yourself, “I don’t think I can do this.”? If you have, you know like I do that it’s frightening to be on that side of the problem. There are times when I have that fleeting thought as I tackle a task at the office. Then I chip away at it and get a little more done and then a little more until finally the job is complete. And, often, through the process, I will quote the verse above. Some days I look at the task we have ahead of us for the “wedding” of our two congregations and I get a little nervous. Can we really do this? Will we really be able to finish all the things we need to in the time allotted? Am I ever going to learn all those new names? Will this really come together? Well, realistically, I don’t think we could finish all of this in two weeks or even two months! But, folks, I learned most of the names in the various congregations I served, eventually! And, I’m going to be able to do that here, eventually! And in the meantime, we are going to work together – chipping away at the process, accomplishing one task after another. And God’s power will be made perfect in us so that we can do it. And we’re going to celebrate steps we’ll take! One celebration happened on June 24th when during worship we had a “grand processional” to mark our new place together. Another celebration will be when a number of folks (from many places) join our church on July 8th. When I mentioned all the celebrations we would be having in the coming months, someone at Cabinet said, “We’ll become known as the party church.” I don’t think that would be a bad thing. We need to celebrate. We need to celebrate being together. We need to celebrate some of the changes that are happening. We need to celebrate God’s power! So, come join us in these next few months and years as we celebrate together. Pastor Nancy
