“Praise the Lord! For it is good to sing praises to our God; for God is gracious, and a song of praise is seemly.” (Psalm 147:1) Celebrations! The months of May and June almost always bring lots of celebrations. We celebrate Mother's Day and Father's Day and Memorial Day and the end of the Sunday School year and many of our members and graduations and this year we are adding a couple of new ones. There are many celebrations. But all of those celebrations should pale by the times when we celebrate our God! Now I realize (since I actually write them) that most of the celebrations we share in church are geared to thanksgiving of our God for people and things. However, sometimes I think we forget that we need to just praise God. We have troubles and pain and illnesses and catastrophes and we go to God in prayer asking for help. We have things that come to us, and people who help us and we may remember to thank God for those. But sometimes we need to stop and just celebrate our God. Just celebrate God’s love and care! To celebrate means to “show happiness at something; to mark an occasion; to perform a religious ceremony; or to praise something.” And, friends, we have much to celebrate! When we think of the goodness of our God, how can we help but celebrate? So, my challenge to you for this month is to stop and remember God’s goodness. And then celebrate – because God loves and cares for us even in the midst of trouble. And that’s something to celebrate! Pastor Nancy
