BLESSING OF THE BACKPACKS
On Sunday, September 8th students are invited to bring their school backpacks to church to be blessed by Pastor Michael. The backpacks should be placed on the riser at the beginning of worship and can be retrieved at the end of the service before the annual picnic. Each student will receive a “Blessed” tag for their backpack. Yes, it’s that time of year again! Our Sunday’s Cool Kickoff event (a.k.a. Rally Day) will be on Sunday, September 8th beginning at 10 am.
* Children & Youth will be greeters! * We’ll bless kids’ backpacks! * Go on a treasure hunt! * PICNIC! * Pie Eating Contest with prizes! * SonShine Camp recognition! Bring a dish to pass, and BRING A FRIEND PENNY JAR NEWS
The proceeds from our monthly Penny Jar collection in June, July and August were designated for the Brockport Ecumenical Outreach Committee, which supports farm workers and migrant families. A total of $225 was donated, which will be applied to their Christmas Party in December. Our Sunday’s Cool is invited! For September and October, we’ll be accepting donations for the Cameron Ministries’ Teens. Thank you in advance for your generosity. CHURCH MEDICAL EMERGENCIES POLICY
At the meeting on August 20, 2019, Council approved the policy for medical emergencies noted below (and accompanying procedures). Council believed that it was necessary to address the issue because of recent experiences locally, as well as the general world environment. The policy/procedure will be posted in the Fellowship Hall. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact any church officer or Cabinet member. Medical Emergencies Policy In the event that an individual working in, visiting, or participating in any activity of the church experiences or appears to experience a medical crisis that appears to be of a serious nature where there is concern that there is a risk to the person’s life or of permanent harm, 9-1-1 will be called for immediate assistance. This will occur regardless of the individual’s wishes, unless there is an immediate adult family member present who also requests that 9-1-1 not be called. Spencerport Ecumenical Food Shelf
The Food Shelf has a new phone number for clients to call. The number is 585-397-0290. The old pager number will still work for several months and will direct callers to the new number. If you know of anyone in need of food, please refer them to the new number. Any information given remains confidential.
