“So, take a deep breath, pick yourself up, dust
yourself off, [and] start all over again.”
~Frank Sinatra
I remember when I was in undergraduate school working on my Bachelor of Business Administration, I always looked forward to a new semester (which began in the fall—September; and in the winter—January). A new semester brought with it a clean slate and the ability to start over and to set new academic and personal goals; and, that’s exactly what I did every new semester. I set new goals and aimed to achieve them.
As we enter into January 2020, I want you to think about your journey as a college student would think about a new semester. I want to encourage you to think about this being a chance for you to start over and to set new personal, spiritual, financial, and health goals. This is a great time to set out on a new path. This is also a great time to make new commitments and to start on a new journey.
Let me remind you of what Karon Waddell’s said: “You are never too old to start over. Every day is a chance to make changes to create the life we want.”
Don’t think about all the reasons why you can’t start over; but, think about all the reasons why you can and should. Think about the end result; and, thank God (literally) that He is with you every step of the way—leading you, guiding you, and pushing you along by the invisible winds of life.
I leave you with these words by Guy Finley, “Nothing in the universe can stop you from letting go and starting over.” So, in the words of Nike Just Do It.
May the hope, peace, love, and joy of Christ live in your hearts as you begin your new journey in the year 2020.
