Holy Week is always an opportunity for us to
worship and reflect on God’s great gift of
grace. This year’s Holy Week is no exception:
Palm Sunday, March 20th, is the celebration of the entry of Jesus and the disciples into the city of Jerusalem. Following worship that day, our children will have the opportunity to share in an Egg Hunt. The egg is a symbol of Easter and there are a number of traditions that grew up around it. Our children will have the opportunity to share in the fun of this day in seeking eggs to share.
Tuesday, March 22nd, is the opportunity to share in worship at the Wedgewood Nursing Home. My custom is to read the story of the resurrection and then share with the residents in singing whatever they would like to sing. (I actually do this most months, so you’re welcome to share in that any time you can.)
Maundy Thursday, March 24th, will be the sharing of dinner and then worship around the table as we remember the Last Supper of Christ with his friends before the crucifixion. In years past we have shared in the Seder celebration. This year will be different, but no less fun and exciting. A sign-up sheet is posted in the Fellowship Hall or call the church office (352-3448) and we will sign you up.
Good Friday, March 25th, we will share with friends from our Spencerport Ecumenical Ministries churches at noon here in our chapel. That evening at 7:00, also in the chapel, we will have the opportunity to remember the sacrifice of our Christ in worship.
Easter Sunday, March 27th, at 7:00 a.m. at the Spencerport Gazebo we will share in worship with friends from the community as we share in a Sonrise Worship. Following worship, a breakfast will be served at the Spencerport Methodist Church. Our Festival Worship will be at 10:15 in the sanctuary and will be the culmination of the celebration of this most holy week.
Plan now to come to as many of these
events as you are able as we remember and
share in worship in Holy Week.
