MANY HANDS MAKE LIGHT WORK
Submitted by Holly Bauer-Mergen It’s that time of year! Time to ask you to consider serving your church – in whatever way best meets your talents! And, yes, you have talents that your church needs. Our annual meeting is now in October, instead of January, and we need to fill the positions in all the boards by then. One of the core characteristics and strengths of a Congregational UCC church is that each congregation is responsible for running its own church – not someone outside our church walls. Church Council is our church’s governing body, and the Church Council is comprised of the members of all the boards. There are many kinds of tasks that need to be done. Each board divides its tasks and meetings in different ways, but it usually means one evening/month and whatever task needs to be completed. The duties of the boards are posted in the Fellowship Hall. If you have any questions, I would be happy to chat with you (352-4548), as would any of the board chairs or members. Please come join your fellow church members in supporting your church! As you already know, we have a great group of people! SEPTEMBER NEWSLETTER
DEADLINE Wednesday, August 15 (9 am) (please note the early deadline) CAMERON MINISTRIES
Submitted by Holly Bauer-Mergen Cameron Ministries will be collecting school supplies for its community this summer. A list of the needed supplies is posted in the Fellowship Hall. (The list is the one I received last year, but I assume it hasn’t changed.) Most of the items are what you’d expect for any child heading off to school (backpacks, crayons, glue sticks, spiral notebooks, composition books, etc.). If you have any questions, please let me know. On July 29 (Canal Days weekend), we will be worshipping
at the Ogden Presbyterian Church at 10 am. There will be NO worship here. PSSSSST! We are looking for a few volunteers to be “Helping Hands” during Sunday School! Nothing is required except your presence! The video, the lesson and the project will all be arranged ahead of time and presented by the Youth Leader. You are simply there to assist, and the commitment would be once a month or less, depending on the response. If you’re curious, please call Jessilou, or join her for coffee after worship some Summer Sunday! J
