Good Friday
Once again, we will have two opportunities to remember the passion of our Christ on Friday, April 3. At noon, we will gather for worship at the Ogden Baptist Church and share with our sisters and brothers from our community as we remember that time of dark despair. That evening at 7:00 pm in the Chapel we will have music and silence and scripture as we remember the gift of Christ's life given for us. Easter "SonRise" We will gather with sisters and brothers in faith to celebrate the resurrection at 7:00 am at the Gazebo on the canal. Plan to attend as this is a meaningful time with members of our community. Easter Sunday Join us for our Festival Worship on Easter Sunday, April 5 at 10:15 am. Come and celebrate Christ's Resurrection with wonderful music and words of praise! The Genesee Valley Association will hold its Spring Assembly on Saturday, April 25 at the Henrietta UCC. Registration begins at 9:00 am. If are interested in attending, please contact the church office. Each year on the Sunday following Easter, we celebrate "Holy Hilarity Sunday." It has its roots in the fact that because of Christ's death and resurrection, we can laugh at death. Come and share with us at this special worship on April 12. We will laugh and have some good fun in remembering the goodness that is ours because of the resurrection! DON'T MISS THIS!! Book Club will meet Monday April 13 at 4:30 pm. We will be reading Anne Lamott's, Traveling Mercies: Some Thoughts on Faith (1999), a book that invites readers to stagger into the arms of faith. This title is widely available in the Monroe County Public Library system as well as at booksellers. We hope you can join us!
SAVE THE DATE Special Congregational Meeting on Sunday, April 12, immediately following worship. The purpose of the meeting is regarding the proposed renovation of the kitchen and fire alarm replacement project. MAUNDY THURSDAY
April 2 - 6:00 pm Do you remember the story of the Exodus? That’s what Passover is about. We are to remember the story of the wonderful things that God did for the people of Israel and celebrate the wonderful things that God continues to do for us. This year on April 2 we will celebrate a traditional Passover similar to the one Jesus shared with his disciples. We will share a meal together and throughout that meal we will retell the story and sing and celebrate God’s wonderful acts of grace. Come share with us. We’ll begin eating our meal at 6:00. PALM SUNDAY In the Greco-Roman culture of the Roman Empire, the palm branch was a symbol of triumph and victory. When Jesus entered Jerusalem, the people greeted him as “the One who comes in the name of the Lord.” When we begin the commemoration of Holy Week, we begin with remembering the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem. This year we will wave the palms throughout our worship as we remember the wonder of the coming of our Christ who came "in the name of the Lord." Then those palms will go home with each of us to be prayer reminders as we remember the stories of that week. Come share with us as we celebrate on March 29. Help us to remember. Share with us on this Palm Sunday. |
