Wednesdays - March 30,
April 6 & 13
Potluck Dinner: 6:00 pm
Program: 6:45 pm
Lent is the period of time in the Christian year that leads up to Easter. Traditionally this season is forty days long (we do not count the Sundays during this season) commemorating the forty days that Jesus spent in the wilderness during his time of temptation. It is often a time of fasting and prayer and meditation remembering the wonderful gift of Jesus for us. Mardi Gras is the period just before the time of contemplation in Lent. Many celebrations are held in various cities throughout the world to celebrate just before the forty days of Fasting and Prayer. This year, as we celebrate this holy season, we will be sharing in a number of activities that you are encouraged to be a part of. On March 6, we will again celebrate worship with a jazz worship and many of the Mardi Gras activities. This festive worship is one that celebrates our children and is fun for all ages. On March 9, we will share in a traditional Ash Wednesday worship at 7:00 pm in the sanctuary. This first day of the season of Lent is a time of remembering and repentance. Although it is a somber worship, many people find it extremely moving. Beginning on March 16, we will share a meal together and then have programs based on the Passion of Christ each Wednesday. Each of these programs will have special times for the children who attend. The first of those Wednesday suppers will be the traditional corned beef and cabbage supper, prepared by Bunny Tubbs. The following four meals will be pot-luck suppers. On April 21, we will celebrate Maundy Thursday with an Upper Room Worship, based in the sanctuary, but moving at times to the chapel. This is a powerful time of sharing that you will not want to miss. Plan now to be a part of these times of reflection and celebration as we commemorate the season of Lent. March 12 - 1:00 pm or 3:30 pm – A Victorian Tea
