At the special congregational meeting on May 13, 2012, the congregation voted to “receive the members and assets of the Brighton UCC” by a vote of 60 yes’s, 0 no’s, and 1 abstention.

The Brighton church has invited us to join them for their final worship on June 3, 2012 at 10:30 am for a time of celebration and remembrance.  Council voted on May 15, 2012 to cancel worship at our church on June 3, so that we may join the BUCC for their closing worship.  We will be arranging carpooling to the Brighton church; a sign-up sheet for drivers and passengers will be in the Fellowship Hall (or feel free to coordinate your own carpool).  Directions to the church were included in the letter mailed to local members and in the email; if you need directions, please call me.

During the month of June, our church will be collecting the following items for the Aurora House: laundry detergent (HE preferred), fabric softener, bleach, garbage bags (tall kitchen), zip lock bags (all sizes), paper towels, toilet paper, facial tissue, candles in a jar, Keurig K-Cups,  cookie and quick bread mixes, room fresheners, ginger ale/cola, twin size sheets X-Long, draw sheets (twin flat sheets, cut in half width-wise, with edges hemmed), gift cards (Tops, Walmart, Office Max, Home Depot, Lowe’s, Wegmans), postage stamps, 2-pocket folders.

 A labeled box will be in the Fellowship Hall during June for the donations.  Thank you!

A congregational meeting has been called for Sunday, May 13, 2012, immediately following worship, as noted in the letter sent out on April 5, 2012.  The purpose of the meeting is twofold:  first, to vote on the proposed merger with the Brighton UCC church; and second, to vote on a change in the By-Laws to change the description of the Deacon’s Fund to more accurately reflect its purpose.
